I'm sorry I've been so absent for the last two weeks. I've been finishing up a digital scrapbooking project that has been sitting here for years - literally! I am very embarrassed about how long it is taking me to finish it, particularly because it is a gift for someone I care deeply about. I'm not posting pictures of it here because after all this time I have misplaced the attributions for the digital elements I used, and I don't want to post without giving credit where it is due. There are some truly creative wonderful designers working in this field (or at least they were working in it 5 years ago!).
I really like the re-tread of Adobe's Photoshop Elements software. I'm using version 13 now, and I think it gets more powerful and easier to use with each version. Usually I skip every other version, so I came to 13 from 11. When I make cards or do traditional paper scrapbooking, I really do hybrid work. I depend more and more on Photoshop Elements.
Meanwhile, I continue to be interested in interactive card bases from Sizzix. I decided to play with the "step up" cards, using #660023 Step Up Card Birthday to make a get well card for a dear friend. I was inspired by a YouTube video by Patti of the Cut@Home Design Team from Sizzix. As I've commented previously, I think the challenge with die cuts is using them creatively to make something that is uniquely my own. Here is my card:

At the time I couldn't find my "get well" rubber stamps, so handwrote the message. All the supplies here are new, even though K&Co is one of my oldie but goodie companies I've loved for ten years or more. I really like the vintage-look flowers from Heidi Swapp. They came in a kit from Studio Calico.
About kits: I must admit that I often find myself looking at some of the contents of kits and thinking, "I will never ever use that. It's just not me." However -- I have only been dealing with kits for the last few months and I am finding that these kit elements push me. I want to use what I have so I put things together that I would not have put together without the kit - mainly because I would never have purchased these elements on my own. And I like what I am creating, if I do say so! This combination of puffy stickers from SEI, flowers from Heidi Swapp and papers from K&Co works for me and I could not be more surprised!
